The greatest concentration of apartments in Point Grey is found near the neighbourhood’s famous beaches. This makes it a more westerly, affluent version of Kitsilano. It attracts the same demographic mix of young professionals, seniors and students – many of them drawn by the recreational opportunities the beaches and nearby Pacific Spirit Regional Park present. Proximity to UBC and the retail centre of West 10th Avenue also accounts for the predominance of apartments on the western edge of the neighbourhood just outside the UBC gates. Point Grey apartments for sale typically achieve a median sale price that’s on par with downtown.
All told, apartments account for 54% of the local housing stock, with new units being added steadily. Some, especially along West 10th, have a contemporary loft-style design. They’re popular both with owner-occupants, as well as investors, who see opportunities to rent the properties to those with connections to UBC. Downsizers purchase others, knowing that the area’s retail and lifestyle offerings will ensure a certain level of comfort. With an enviable mix of forest, waterfront and stunning vistas of the North Shore mountains and Howe Sound, there’s plenty beyond the walls of a 2-bedroom condo to make up for a small living space. With a diversity of apartments forms and layouts to consider, buyers have plenty of options.
