Dog Parks in Point Grey
Moving to a new area is always going to raise a few questions – where can my kids go to school? Where is the nearest grocery store? Where can I sneak off for a beer? If your family has a furry friend, you may also want to know where to take your pampered pooch so they can run around off leash. While finding a Point Grey dogpark can be difficult at first, this area is lucky enough to have some of the best dog parks in the Greater Vancouver area. Here are the three Point Grey dogparks that your pooch will adore.
Back from the Beach – Locarno Park Extension
Locarno Beach is one of the most picturesque places the city has to offer – this windswept beach is a gorgeous place to take the family any time of year. Unfortunately, these same graces aren’t extended to the family pooch, but they are well catered for just back from the beach at the Locarno Park Extension, at Belmont Ave and Trimble Street, one block south of the beach between Trimble and Sasamat. Dogs are allowed off-leash all day from 6 AM until 10 PM, but please note that dogs are not allowed at the playground side of the park.
Crème de la Crème – Spanish Banks Beach Park
If your pooch has been sitting at Locarno Beach jonesing for the water, take Fido to 4900 NW Marine Dr, near the entrance to Pacific Spirit Park, where the Spanish Banks dog park will treat him well. Dogs are allowed off-leash from 6 AM to 10 PM here, which is great for dog owners who like to chase their puppies around in the sand while the sun comes up or goes down. When the tide is in, feel free to go for a swim yourself, and when the tide is out, run around the flats and take your dog with you. While this wind-kissed area can get cold in winter, Spanish Banks really can’t be beat as the place to take your pooch when they’re in need of a bit of exercise.
Back a Bit – Valdez Park
The off-leash area at Valdez Park is a little further southeast from the Point Grey area, but it’s only a short drive, and it’s worth the trip. Located at 3210 West 22nd Ave at Balaclava St, this is the place where all the neighbourhood families bring their dogs – if you have a highly social animal, this is the place to go for them to meet friends. Dogs are allowed off leash in the morning from 6 AM to 10 AM, and in the evening from 5 PM to 10 PM, so no daylong playing.
Picking the perfect piece of property means taking in a lot of different factors – if only it were as simple as seeing the local dog park, because then you’d know that Point Grey real estate can’t be beat. The Point Grey area has a lot to offer families and their furry friends – all the local amenities are there for the taking day and night, all year round. Check out what Point Grey has to offer – your dog will thank you.
