Point Grey Houses
Point Grey is one of Vancouver’s cherished neighbourhoods. Its tree-lined streets shaded by thick canopies of leaves and proximity to Pacific Spirit Regional Park and the beaches of English Bay make it an idyllic place to raise a family. Single detached homes dominate here, at 44% of the local housing stock. This has made them both prized possessions and expensive, with prices double the average for Vancouver.
Many older properties have been renovated or completely rebuilt. This has brought a new feel to the neighbourhood while the single-family character has, for the most part, remained. Other properties continue to be good investments for owners who rent them to students, attracted by the neighbourhood’s location adjacent to the UBC campus. While rental data shifts from year to year, strong demand for rooms means good quality accommodation can fetch a premium that’s well above the reported averages.
Still, events such as the annual Point Grey Fiesta as well as a relatively large population of seniors make the area a family-friendly retreat from the hustle and bustle of the urban core. With several transit lines, it’s also connected to the rest of the city.
